Lannie Brant grew up in Savannah, Georgia and after completing high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, Seabees Branch. Returning home in 1970 after completing two tours in Vietnam, Lannie decided to settle in Camden County.

Mr. Brant worked in various fields before accepting a position with the Camden County Board of Commissioners as their Fleet Maintenance Superintendent in 1985. Just two short years later, he had the opportunity to become the Director of the Solid Waste Department.

Lannie has been a very active member with the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Georgia Chapter and is a nationally certified Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO). A member of the SWANA for 28 years, Lannie is a State Certified Landfill Operator and an elected member of the SWANA board, serving two terms as President and two terms as Treasurer.

In 2014, Lannie received the Solid Waste Association of North American Life Member Award. Through the years, he has been recognized for his efforts in working to protect and improve the environmental quality of life for the residents of Camden County. Lannie retired from Camden County in October 2016, after nearly 30 years as the Solid Waste Director.

Lannie is a Certified County Commissioner through ACCG and University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Lifelong Learning Academy. He currently serves as the Chair of ACCG's Policy Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment. 

Lannie and his wife, Janice, have been married for 52 years and have two children and one granddaughter.
