Call for Election

Notice is Hereby Given that on the 24th Day of May, 2022, a General Primary Election/ Nonpartisan/General & Special Election will be held at all Regular Polling Places in All Election Precincts of Camden County, Georgia.

Notice of Early Processing, Tabulation, Canvassing and Certification of Election Returns

Early Processing
O.C.G.A § 21-2-386(a)(1)(B) Camden County Board of Elections & Registration will begin early processing of Absentee by Mail ballots at 9:00 am, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, and continuing daily on the following schedule (until all ballots have been processed):

  • May 18 - 20, 2022 (Wednesday –Friday) from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon
  • May 23, 2022 (Monday) from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon 
  • May 24, 2022 (Tuesday) from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

After Election Day, any remaining UOCAVA absentee ballots received and any provisional ballots cast in the May 24, 2022 General Primary and Special Election will be processed on Friday, May 27, 2022 beginning at 2:00 pm until all ballots are processed. 

Early Tabulation
O.C.G.A § 21-2-386(a)(3),(4),(5),(6) Election Day, May 24, 2022, the Camden County Elections office will begin tabulating absentee ballots at 6:00 p.m. at 200 E. 4th Street, Woodbine. Results will not be available until after 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Certification
O.C.G.A § 21-2-493 Notice is hereby given that tabulation, canvassing and certification of the returns of votes cast in the May 24, 2022 General Primary and Special Election will take place in the Camden County Elections office on Friday, May 27, 2022 beginning at 3:00 p.m.

All events are open to public viewing and will be conducted at the Elections Office located at 200 E. 4th Street, Woodbine.

Board of Elections & Registration Mission

As an independent body and within the legal framework of the State of Georgia and Camden County, the mission of the Board of Elections & Registration is that of:

  • Conducting elections and certifying the election results;
  • Verifying voters and ballots; 
  • Educating the community and increasing community awareness of upcoming elections; and,
  • Creating community confidence and trust in voting and the democratic process.

Responsibilities

  • Registering qualified citizens to vote.
  • Maintaining all voter records.
  • Providing verification of voters and voter information.
  • Assigning voters to appropriate Districts and Precincts.
  • Assisting with the training of Poll Officers.
  • Expediting all Absentee Voting.

As of March 30, 2022, Camden County had 40,922 registered voters, including 34,602 active voters and 6,320 inactive voters.
