[ARCHIVED] Camden County Residents Under Voluntary Curfew

Exceptions will be made for travel to work and for medical treatment as well as for fuel, food, or medicine pick-up and delivery. The voluntary curfew is necessary to further reduce the impact the COVID-19 virus will have on our community.

The goal of the curfew is to reduce the burden on public safety and medical care and ensure their continued capability to handle existing critical response including cardiac events, motor vehicle accidents, and others. Limiting public interactions would reduce the likelihood of community spread of COVID-19.

As of 12:00 p.m. on March 22, 2020, Georgia has 600 confirmed cases, including ten (10) in southeast Georgia. Because testing has been limited, there may not be an accurate picture of the current level of infection in our community.

It is vitally important that all businesses realize that continuing to allow in-person gatherings of greater than ten (10) people is posing a significant health risk to Camden County. Although this is a voluntary measure, additional actions may become necessary as this public health emergency continues to impact our community.

Examples of those measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Mandatory Curfew (8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.)
  • Mandatory limiting of all public gatherings to ten (10) people or less
  • Mandatory ordering of restaurants and bars to close for in-house dining and only open to serve food via pick-up, delivery, or drive‐thru
  • Voluntary Shelter-in-Place
  • Mandatory Shelter-in-Place

All critical infrastructure including, grocery stores, government services, providers of food, water, fuel, medical care, pharmacies, and deliveries would continue under all measures above.

The voluntary curfew does not affect operations at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
