[ARCHIVED] Public Notice: Public Gatherings Restricted to Ten People

Where ten (10) or less are gathered six (6) feet of separation will be maintained. The ten (10) or less requirement does not include operational staff (employees) for the business.

All entertainment and recreation facilities, barber shops, beauty salons, nail salons, chiropractic clinics, tattoo parlors, gyms, dance studios, and spas are temporarily closed. The actions we are taking are in addition to those called for by Governor Kemp and are determined to be necessary for the protection of Camden County residents.

All critical infrastructure including banks and financial intuitions, licensed professional services, grocery stores, government services, providers of food, water, fuel, medical care, and pharmacies are exempt, and will continue to provide essential services and goods to the public. Where such services are being provided, businesses will ensure Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines are being followed.

Recognizing that child care services remain necessary for health care professionals and public safety first responders, day care providers should follow CDC guidelines.

All actions as outlined above will remain in effect until April 6, 2020, at 12:00 noon or may be terminated earlier in conjunction with the termination of Governor Kemp’s state of emergency. The above actions are subject to enforcement under county ordinance.

This measure is designed to reduce public gatherings in a more specific way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Failure to comply with these directives could result in code enforcement actions requiring Magistrate or Municipal Court resolution.

As of 12:00 p.m. on March 24, 2020, Georgia has 1,026 confirmed cases and 18 in the Coastal Georgia Health District, including one in Camden County. Because testing has been limited, there may not be an accurate picture of the current level of infection in our community. At this time, Camden County continues to maintain a voluntary curfew from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. nightly.

Additional actions may become necessary as this public health emergency continues to impact our community.

Examples of those measures include, but are not limited to:

  • Voluntary Shelter-in-Place
  • Mandatory Shelter-in-Place

Additionally, the measures listed above do not affect operations at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
