Regarding 2020 Digest Values, Office Operations, Field Reviews, and Assessment Notices
The Camden County Assessors office remains closed to the public for in-person business. Appraisers and administrative staff have been busy processing deed transfers, reviewing property returns, working specialized assessment applications, and assisting taxpayers with any questions they may have through phone and email communication. Governor Brian Kemp has extended the deadline to file Conservation Use Assessment and Forest Land Protection Act applications to June 1, 2020.
All office functions remain effective through email and telephone. The Board of Assessors held a meeting via teleconference on April 23rd 2020. At this meeting a vote was taken and unanimously approved to mail assessment notices after June 1 and to keep values consistent with 2019 digest values except for new structures, certain additions to existing structures, and changes to property that could increase or decrease the value (property splits, zoning changes, etc.). This action was taken in direct response to the uncertain times our community and country finds itself in at this time.
Appraisal field visits have been suspended indefinitely. We will resume field reviews at some point, but most reviews will be done from the office using technology or other means with the taxpayers and employee safety always put first. We will announce a resumption of field checks in the future.

We find ourselves in uncertain times with the presence of the COVID-19 virus in our community and around the country.
