Know Your Zone
Earlier this year the Camden County Board of Commissioners approved new hurricane evacuation zones for Camden County. The county now features four zones to better reflect risk and evacuation management.
Government Offices Closed Wednesday and Thursday
Officials from the Camden County Board of Commissioners and the Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine, along with Camden County Schools, jointly agreed to close all local government offices and schools Wednesday, August 30, 2023, AND Thursday, August 31, 2023. The safety of our youth, staff, and citizens are our first priority.

Local State of Emergency
Chairman Ben Casey signed a State of Emergency for Camden County. Additionally, an evacuation has been ordered for Zone A, which consists of Cumberland Island and Little Cumberland Island. Signed Declaration (PDF)

Zone A Evacuation
Earlier this year the Camden County Board of Commissioners approved new hurricane evacuation zones for Camden County. The county now features four zones to better reflect risk and evacuation management. Camden County residents, regardless of zone, should strongly consider voluntary evacuation in low lying areas. Locations that have flooded in the past are likely to flood during this tropical event. Residents in manufactured housing should consider relocating to a stronger structure. Shelter of LAST RESORT
Camden County is opening a shelter of LAST RESORT for individuals needing a place to evacuate. This is targeted for people in manufactured homes, flood prone areas, and unsafe structures. This shelter will be open at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Camden County PSA Recreation Center located at 1050 Wildcat Drive, Kingsland, GA 31548.
If you plan on staying at the shelter, you are responsible for the following items:
- Bedding/Sleeping Bags
- Towels
- Toiletries
- Medications
- Snacks
- Entertainment (Books, Games)
- Childcare items
- Chargers
If you are bringing a pet to the shelter, it must be crated the entirety of your stay and you are responsible for the following items:
- Pet Food
- Leash
- Food & Water Bowls
- Medication
- Vaccination Records
Report Damage
Residents are encouraged to report damage in Camden County caused by Hurricane Idalia.

Curbside Collection Schedule Change
Unincorporated Camden County Curbside Collection Services will not run on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. The service will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week through Saturday. If you reside inside city limits, please refer to your local government for any schedule changes.
Meeting Cancellations
- The Park Discussion meetings scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31, have been cancelled. These meetings will be rescheduled at a later date.
- The Camden County Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, 2023, has been cancelled.
