Proclamation Recognizing Veterans

WHEREAS: On Veterans Day and every day, we show our deep appreciation for the brave men and women who have selflessly served, and we honor the memory of those who never made it back home; and

WHEREAS: For the past 247 years, Georgians, and Camden County residents, have stepped forward to answer the call to service, continuously exhibiting the unshakeable courage upon which our nation was founded; and

WHEREAS: Around 700,000 veterans call Georgia home, and it is these individuals to which we owe an inexpressible debt. If not for their strong desire to protect and defend our way of life, our nation would not be safe, free, and just; and

WHEREAS: It is appropriate to recognize veterans of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. These individuals are deserving of praise, and their sacrifices serve as constant reminders that freedom is not free; and

WHEREAS: The sacrifice of a veteran does not end when he or she leaves the battlefield, and it is important to shed light on the struggles of their transition back to civilian life; and

WHEREAS: Camden County is home to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and two United States Coast Guard Units and proudly supports the strong military ties throughout our community; and

WHEREAS: Camden County is proud to honor the veterans currently serving our community through county government, including veterans of the United States Air Force, Coast Guard, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy:
