Conditions evaluated for access include safe roads and bridges; the availability of clean water, sewer, shelter, power, emergency and other essential services; and public safety.
Effective, today, September 13, 2017, we are now in Phases Two (Critical Business Re-entry) and Three (Residential Re-entry) of the Camden County Unified Hurricane Re-Entry Plan. Additional requirements may be imposed by local cities if determined necessary in furtherance of the unified re-entry plan. Downtown St. Marys’ power grid will be brought online between Wednesday, September 13, 2017, and Saturday, September 16, 2017, due to the potential safety hazards including fallen and falling power lines, debris, trees, and limbs. Water services are available, however, the sewer system is under great stress and use of the system must be minimized.
Camden County and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine, along with Camden County Schools and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay plan to open all government offices and schools on Monday, September 18, 2017. School or government office employee will be allowed to return to work, on a voluntary basis, Friday, September 15, 2017. Reporting to work on Friday is only for employees that are able and willing to do so. Employees who plan to work on Friday should do so at their regular schedule and should report to their immediate supervisor.
It must be understood that the health and safety of our children and the overall public is our highest priority. Should we not meet the criteria for safety conditions, such as adequate water, sewer, fire suppression, and public safety resources, this date is subject to change.
