The award represents a noteworthy achievement by Camden County as it reflects the commitment of the Board of Commissioners and staff to meet the highest principles of government budgeting. Nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation had to be fulfilled in order for Camden County to receive this budget award. These guidelines are designed to assess how well Camden County’s budget serves as:
- a policy document;
- a financial plan;
- an operations guide; and
- a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, including the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted to a government organization, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is also presented to the individual or department designated as being primarily responsible for having achieved the award. The Camden County Board of Commissioners would like to thank the Finance & Budget Department for all their efforts in making this recognition possible. Special appreciation is also given to Finance Director Nancy Gonzalez for her hard work and dedication to the final presentation.
“I am exceptionally pleased with the accomplishments of the Finance & Budget Department under Mike Fender’s direction and guidance,” said County Administrator Steve Howard. “Their unrelenting endeavor for excellence is to be commended.”
