[ARCHIVED] FAA Extends Spaceport Camden Draft EIS Comment Period

After hearing comments from the community and the desire for residents to take part in this important process, the Camden County Board of County Commissioners formally requested the FAA extend the total comment period to 90 days on last Thursday.  The FAA granted this extension this morning.

“Camden County is committed to a robust due diligence process and encourages public participation in our efforts to obtain a launch site operator’s license from the FAA,” said Steve Howard, Camden County Administrator and Spaceport Camden Project Lead.  “We want to ensure that all interested parties, even those that may not live in Camden County, are able to participate in this process and the FAA has a complete record in which to base its decision.”

The FAA will hold two public hearings in Camden County to present the findings from the draft EIS and to receive public comments.  The dates for those hearings have not changed and are still scheduled for April 11 and April 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at the Camden County Public Service Authority Recreation Center, located at 1050 Wildcat Drive in Kingsland. The public hearings will include an open house and poster session, FAA presentation, and formal public comment period.
