The Citizens’ Academy is an 11-session interactive program designed to familiarize the general public with the roles, services, and operations that comprise their Camden County Government. The program focuses on educating residents, business owners, and interested persons who work in Camden County about how the daily County Government operations contribute to building a better community.
Each week, staff from various departments spoke to the class about their roles and responsibilities with Camden County Government. As part of the class, students toured and visited the Camden County Courthouse, the Public Safety Complex in Woodbine, and the Emergency Operations Center in Kingsland.

As a part of the Graduation festivities, participants saw a presentation from County Administrator and Spaceport Camden Project Lead, Steve Howard, about the space history of Camden County and the plans for Spaceport Camden. Special guests ABL Space Systems CEO, Harry O’Hanley, and CFO, Dan Piemont, skyped into the Graduation to discuss the company’s plans for Camden County.
County Administrator Steve Howard said the Citizens’ Academy plays a vital role in reaching our local community. "This is an opportunity for class members to get a thorough, in-depth look at their county government and the dynamic role it plays in their lives. I would encourage every citizen to consider participating in future classes."
