1. Why would I need a right-of-way permit?

Brfore the surface or subsurface of any County Maintained road system can be tied into (private drive or new street) or altered in any way the Road Department must approve this action. This would include the changing of old or installation of new culvert for homesites.

2. Once I have the permit, who pays for the culvert pipe?

The property owner is responsible for the culvert. The Road Department does offer the service of installing the pipe with proper compensation from the property owner. We do not install for Contractors. We do inspect all culverts and driveway accesses.

3. Does the Road Department clean out driveway pipes?

Yes, on County Maintained Right-of-Ways. The Road Department does not have permission to work on Private Property.

4. Will the County allow mw to pipe my roadside ditch?

Yes, upon approval of Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit that includes an engineered set of pland that include drainage plan and hydraulics analysis. This must include a means of collection and discharge of water.

5. Do we maintain ditches on State Right-of-Way?

No, this goes to local maintenance office of Georgia Department of Transportation.
